NASA has officially selected the crew members for the upcoming SpaceX Crew-14 mission. This team will head to the International Space Station no earlier than spring of 2027 to live and work in orbit. The flight will be a long-duration mission, meaning the team will stay in space for several months to conduct important science experiments. The crew brings together experts from three different global space agencies. NASA astronauts Kayla Barron and Chris Birch will lead the mission, serving as the spacecraft commander and pilot. Joining them are Makoto Suwa from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and a fourth crew member from the Russian space agency, Roscosmos. The mission will use the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft to travel to the orbiting laboratory. Once they arrive, the astronauts will join the station's crew to perform research that cannot be done on Earth. These tasks help us learn how the human body reacts to long stays in microgravity and test new technologies for future deep-space travel.
